South African National Parks (SANParks) is Hiring for a Room Attendant – Matric Job

A vacancy currently exists for a Room Attendant at Golden Gate National Park, based at Golden Gate Hotel and Chalets. Reporting to the Chalets Supervisor.

Requirements

Grade 12 or NVC Level 4
1-2 years’ work experience in public cleaning or Tourism environment.
Certificate in Public Cleaning added as advantage.
Cleaning in a hotel or similar establishment added as advantage.
Required to work over weekends and on Public Holidays as well as shifts and assist in other departments on request of management.
Knowledge of First Aid.
Hygiene skills.
Understanding English.
Punctual, neat, and responsible.
Comply with OHS regulations.

Responsibilities

Cleaning in and around chalets (changing bed linen, sweeping, and mopping floors or vacuuming, polish furniture, empty trash containers.
Cleaning public area.
Reporting abnormalities to supervisor.
Control inventory items and ensure that the appropriate amount of inventory items is present in chalets.
Report maintenance defaults into maintenance register.
Help in laundry when necessary.
Delivers high-quality service, is committed to continuous improvement.
Manage customer expectations.
Address customer needs.
Evaluate customer service.
Respond to and anticipates client needs in timely, professional, helpful and courteous manner, using effective interpersonal skills.
Effective plans, schedules, prioritizes and control activities.
Organizes and prioritizes tasks so they can be performed within the specified time and achieve the most efficient use of time.

Please Note

The role requires availability of duties on weekends and public holidays.

Accommodation will be provided within the park.

The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson A-Band grading, allowance and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks.

SANParks Driver Requirements

Grade 12.
A valid driver’s license with a Professional Permit to transport People (PDP).
Occupational Health and safety experience.
Two (2) years’ work experience as a professional Messenger/Driver.
First Aid Training.

Responsibilities

Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Compliance with the SANParks Fleet Management SOP and Code of Conduct for driving official vehicles.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, identifying and reporting safety defects.
Ensuring that the safety measures at the workplace are adhered to.
Operate all SANParks vehicles in accordance with the valid driver’s license and
Professional Driving Permit (PDP) held in line with the National Road Traffic Act.
Provide general driving services for SANParks staff, including non-executive and executive chauffeur duties when required. Ensure vehicles are kept clean, presentable and roadworthy.
Report all the vehicle defects; incident or accident.
Daily control over fuel and oil stock levels of the vehicles.
Transport of school going children and staff members.
Ensure completion of the driver log sheet, trip permits and mileage records.
Conduct annual maintenance schedules and monthly inspections of the vehicles.
General administration.
Report any accidents, incidents, or vehicle issues to the supervisor.
Provide professional and reliable service to all internal and external customers as well as sharing general information about the Park.
Perform General Worker Duties.
Ad-hoc duties.

The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson B2 job grade, and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks.
