Purpose of the job

The Executive Assistant will manage the Executive’s diary, organize and coordinate meetings and perform project co-ordination as may be required. They will be responsible to manage all SITA compliance process adherence for the division, manage finance processes, procurement processes, planning cycles and reporting cycles. Key Responsibility Areas

  • Receive and record incoming and outgoing correspondence to ensure proper record keeping for the division.
  • Prepare general office duties.

  • Manage the Executive’s travel arrangements in accordance with SITA travelling policy and procedures to the satisfaction of the division.
  • Provide management support to the Executive.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum: 1 – 2-Year National Higher Certificate in a relevant discipline / NQF level 5 or accredited specialised
courses, e.g secretarial diploma or diploma in office administration.
Experience: 2 – 3 Years’ experience within a secretarial or administrative support role to an Executive level in
general office practices or procedures.

Knowledge of: Principles and practices of organisation, records management and general administration; Computer Literacy; Basic principles and practices of bookkeeping; Office management; Ability to

  2. Assists in various manual tasks such as: demolition work, painting, plumbing, carpentry work, routine and preventive maintenance, and general cleanup of work areas, and common use areas of the NEC/NCC. 
  3. Uses hand and power tools under the supervision of the skilled technicians and mechanics as necessary.
  4. Prepares worksite and maintains tools and equipment.  Brings tools, supplies and materials to work site as directed by the skilled technicians; cleans the work site at the completion of the task; loads and unloads materials and tools and also loads construction debris into dump truck.
  5. Perform unskilled tasks such as common laborer work, material handling, snow removal, grounds maintenance and gardening work.

2.      Logistic Support 5% 

  1. Performs escort duties for local contractors as required.

  • All merchandise must be handled carefully to prevent any losses.
  • Transact all purchases – receive, verify and processes all payments such as cash, cards, vouchers, coupons and any other acceptable payments.
  • Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returned goods by customers when authorised to do so by the Frontshop Leader.
  • Process all loyalty cards including those of accelerated partners.
  • Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed by a Frontshop Leader and/ or Retail Store Assistant.
  • Ensure accurate cash flow at all times.
  • Facilitate rotation of stoke on a regular basis and adhere to Dis-Chem stock control procedures.
  • Report low stock levels, items that are out of stock, damaged stock and expired stock to management.
  • Assist with the counting of stock files and general stocktaking.
  • Identify and report damaged and expired stock immediately to management.
  • Assist with the loading and off-loading of stock when needed.
  • Ensure boxes are flattened after unpacking stock and taken to the designated area.
  • Establish a professional relationship with customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous assistance and advice to all customers.
  • Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
  • Adhere to the customer turnover per hour rate as per company benchmark.
  • Assist with the training of new and current team members.
  • Ensure that outgoing stock/ items/ scripts are scanned and paid for.
  • Keep daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, card slips, line voids and incomplete dockets) inside the till drawer until they are placed in the drop safe.
  • Report bad and suspicious behaviour for both staff and customers to management.
  • Housekeeping must be in accordance to Dis-Chem standards.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to the Dis-Chem uniform and personal appearance policy

The primary purpose of the Millwright role is to provide comprehensive electrical and mechanical maintenance support to the plant in order to achieve maximum equipment availability, reliability, efficiency, and safety. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all plant machinery and equipment are maintained to the highest engineering standards through effective maintenance practices and technical expertise.

The role combines both electrical and fitting disciplines and requires a highly skilled artisan capable of troubleshooting, repairing, installing, maintaining, and optimizing a broad range of industrial equipment used within heavy engineering and manufacturing operations.

The Millwright will support production by ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations through rapid response to breakdowns, execution of preventative maintenance schedules, and proactive identification of potential equipment failures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics & Science
  • Relevant trade certificate (Millwright qualified) through QCTO – Red seal (based on NQF L4)
  • Relevant N qualification in the specific trade (Minimum N4 with fitting & electrical theory)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 3 – 5 years relevant Artisan experience in a Heavy engineering Industrial And/or manufacturing environment
  • Specific experience in:
  • Electrical field: Fault finding on Electrical reticulation systems Basic instrumentation. Reading of electrical drawings
  • Fitting & Turning: Replacement of bearings, Maintaining of equipment, Hydraulic and pneumatic

Duties and Responsibilities

The Millwright will perform maintenance and repairs on various mechanical systems and rotating equipment throughout the plant. This includes:

  • Conducting inspections and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
  • Replacing bearings, seals, shafts, couplings, chains, and mechanical components
  • Aligning motors, pumps, and rotating equipment
  • Conducting fault finding on mechanical failures and equipment malfunctions
  • Maintaining conveyor systems, screw conveyors, elevators, and scraper chains
  • Repairing and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Servicing gearboxes, mills, crushers, reclaimers, packers, and associated plant machinery
  • Performing welding, fitting, and assembly work where required
  • Conducting shutdown maintenance activities and plant overhauls
  • Ensuring equipment operates within manufacturer specifications and operational standards

The role further requires the incumbent to identify recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.

The Millwright will also be responsible for electrical maintenance activities including:

  • Fault finding on electrical reticulation systems
  • Maintenance and repair of electrical motors and control systems
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
  • Diagnosing electrical faults on industrial machinery
  • Conducting inspections on electrical installations and components
  • Assisting with basic instrumentation maintenance and calibration
  • Ensuring safe isolation and lock-out procedures are followed during maintenance activities
  • Replacing faulty electrical components and wiring
  • Maintaining electrical panels, switches, starters, and motor circuits
  • Supporting plant automation and control systems where applicable
