About Isanti Glass South Africa

Isanti Glass South Africa is a Johannesburg-based glass packaging manufacturer serving the beverage, food and pharmaceutical industries. Established in 2019 and launched in April 2020, the company produces high-quality glass containers, including beer bottles, wine and spirits packaging, soft-drink bottles and specialised food jars. It is one of South Africa’s key local glass-container manufacturers and a major supplier to leading beverage and food brands.

Isanti Glass was created after Nampak sold its glass business to Isanti Glass in 2019 for an estimated R1.5 billion. The transaction made Isanti the first majority black-owned glass-container manufacturer in South Africa, with Kwande Capital holding 60%, South African Breweries (SAB) 35% and Isanti employees 5%. This ownership structure has positioned the company as an important example of black industrialisation, localisation and inclusive economic participation.

The company operates a 56,596-square-metre facility in Roodekop, Germiston, equipped with three furnaces and nine forming lines. It produces glass in amber, flint (clear) and emerald green, offering custom moulds, premium finishes and packaging designed for efficient production lines. Its products serve beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks, water, juice and food manufacturers across South Africa and export markets.

Isanti Glass is also a leader in sustainability and the circular economy. On average, its production incorporates about 50% recycled glass, or cullet, and every container it manufactures is 100% recyclable. The company supports recycling buy-back centres and informal waste collectors, contributing to more than 50,000 income-generating opportunities while reducing demand for raw materials.

Career opportunities at Isanti Glass include roles in glass manufacturing, furnace operations, engineering, quality assurance, maintenance, logistics, supply chain, sales, marketing, finance and human resources. The company employs around 450 people directly and supports more than 200 third-party contractors, while also investing in skills development and community upliftment. As a Level 1 B-BBEE, Proudly South African manufacturer, Isanti Glass combines industrial capability with a strong commitment to transformation, sustainability and local economic growth.
