Millwright Development Training Program

Purpose of the role:

The Training Programme provides individuals with structured workplace exposure aligned with their academic curriculum. The programme is designed to equip learners with practical skills, industry knowledge, and hands-on technical experience, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world work environment and enhance their professional development.

The job responsibilities:

Participate fully in workplace training as per the structured training plan.
Perform tasks and duties as assigned by supervisors and mentors.
Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Demonstrate professionalism and a willingness to learn.
Work towards achieving the required practical competencies.

Profile Required

Qualified Millwright Trade Test Certificate
N3-N6 Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (advantageous)
Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC systems
Valid Working at Heights and LOTO certification
Basic computer literacy
0-1 year exposure to mining, quarrying, or heavy industrial equipment (preferred)

Sandvik South Africa Engineering Trainee Operative

Sandvik Mining is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries. Applications include rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunneling and quarrying. Sandvik is proud to be recognized on the Forbes Top 50 Global Employers List.

As an Engineering Trainee Operative, you invest your time, energy, and work into your product training, and on the job experience in mining machines rebuild and maintenance. As a Trainee, you will be given training on Sandvik Products and experience required to enable you complete and prepare for the trade test and be competitive in the mining industry.

Key Responsibilities

Observe the conditions of the relevant employment agreement or award.

Attend and perform work as directed.

Behave in a courteous and professional manner.

Obey all lawful instructions.

Work toward achieving the competencies of the training plan.

Undertake training and assessment as required under the training plan.

Keep the training record and produce this when required.

Complete Logbook for a specific trade

Complete trade test preparation and trade test

Profile Required by Sandvik

Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science or equivalent qualification.

Minimum N3 Engineering Studies is compulsory.

Institutional Training for the following trade is compulsory (Electrician/Diesel Mechanic/Fitter)

Physically and medically fit to work in a mining environment including meeting all customer vaccination requirements.
