In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Inspections on the raw materials batching system, pre-heater feeding and furnace floors.
  • Ensuring that the furnace is properly loaded
  • Conducting inspections on all floors of the furnace building
  • Assist with electrode paste loading, monitoring paste temperatures and replacing thermos-couples when necessary.
  • Assist to Operate the furnace in accordance with established procedures and works instructions
  • Ensuring good housekeeping in the area of responsibility
  • Operating the computerized loading system for feeding raw material into the furnace.
  • Adhering to all HSECQ requirements to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures

About you:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
  • Basic metallurgy and smelting knowledge
  • Basic Furnace and electrode operation understanding
  • SCADA and MES knowledge will be an advantage
  • Good administration, communication and interpersonal skills
