South African National Parks (SANParks) is Hiring for a Room Attendant – Matric Job

A vacancy currently exists for a Room Attendant at Golden Gate National Park, based at Golden Gate Hotel and Chalets. Reporting to the Chalets Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or NVC Level 4
  • 1-2 years’ work experience in public cleaning or Tourism environment.
  • Certificate in Public Cleaning added as advantage.
  • Cleaning in a hotel or similar establishment added as advantage.
  • Required to work over weekends and on Public Holidays as well as shifts and assist in other departments on request of management.
  • Knowledge of First Aid.
  • Hygiene skills.
  • Understanding English.
  • Punctual, neat, and responsible.
  • Comply with OHS regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning in and around chalets (changing bed linen, sweeping, and mopping floors or vacuuming, polish furniture, empty trash containers.
  • Cleaning public area.
  • Reporting abnormalities to supervisor.
  • Control inventory items and ensure that the appropriate amount of inventory items is present in chalets.
  • Report maintenance defaults into maintenance register.
  • Help in laundry when necessary.
  • Delivers high-quality service, is committed to continuous improvement.
  • Manage customer expectations.
  • Address customer needs.
  • Evaluate customer service.
  • Respond to and anticipates client needs in timely, professional, helpful and courteous manner, using effective interpersonal skills.
  • Effective plans, schedules, prioritizes and control activities.
  • Organizes and prioritizes tasks so they can be performed within the specified time and achieve the most efficient use of time.

Please Note

The role requires availability of duties on weekends and public holidays.

Accommodation will be provided within the park.

The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson A-Band grading, allowance and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks.

Work Experience Student (WES) – Day Laboratory Roles and Responsibilities

The Work Experience Students (WES) within the Day Laboratory play a critical support role in ensuring effective laboratory operations, governance, compliance, and continuous improvement within the Quality Department. The role is designed to provide practical exposure and hands-on experience across quality, food safety, sensory, microbiological, and governance systems while supporting operational excellence on site.

Core Areas of Responsibility

  • Management of the water testing bench
  • Management of the sample retention store and shelf-life evaluation programme
  • Support incoming raw material and packaging material testing
  • Raising food safety risks, observations, and non-conformances
  • Supporting PRP/GMP audits and governance activities
  • Participation in sensory evaluation and investigative activities
  • Support food safety, quality, hygiene, and MECP programmes

Daily Activities (Approximate Time Allocation)

Water Testing Bench Management

  • Conduct routine water sampling and testing as per the site sampling schedule: 1 hour
  • Ensure adherence to daily, weekly, monthly, and annual water sampling plans: 30 minutes
  • Record, interpret, trend, and communicate water testing results and deviations: 45 minutes
  • Escalate out-of-specification results and support investigations: 30 minutes

Retention Store and Shelf-Life Management

  • Verify that previous day production samples are accounted for against carousel reports and warehouse receipts: 45 minutes
  • Organize and maintain retention samples for ease of traceability and retrieval: 30 minutes
  • Conduct shelf-life evaluations including packaging integrity (PPQA), labelling verification, visual inspections, and flavour stability assessments: 1 hour
  • Trend retention sample quality and identify emerging concerns or deterioration patterns: 30 minutes
  • Report and escalate shelf-life or retention-related deviations timeously: 30 minutes

Incoming Material Support

  • Support raw and packaging material inspections and testing activities: 1 hour
  • Assist with sample collection, preparation, and documentation: 30 minutes

Food Safety, Quality and Governance

  • Participate in GEMBA walkabouts and governance routines: 30 minutes
  • Raise food safety, quality, environmental, and safety observations and risks: 15 minutes
  • Conduct Planned Job Observations (PJOs): 30 minutes
  • Participate in daily food safety, quality, and safety meetings/activities: 30 minutes
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards within assigned work areas: 15 minutes

Sensory and Tasting Activities

Weekly Activities

Monthly Activities

Personal Development Responsibilities

Main Objective: PG Group Trainee Tool Fabricator

  • Ensuring accurate shaping of raw material ( metals ) by interpreting drawing , templates or sample finished glass products to determine the dimensions and which materials are required.
  • Supporting NPD by providing new moulds checked against fixtures.
  • Assembling of components of the tool by cutting materials and assembling by drilling bolting or welding as per dimensions of the drawing.
  • Providing tooling to acceptable standards to production in line with job request to support production requirements.
  • Fastening or assembling all relevant components through various techniques as per ridigity , joint quality and dimensional accuracy specifications and verify the completed assembly against the required form to supply internal customer in line with specifications.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Impala Platinum is committed to youth skills development by providing graduates with an opportunity to gain relevant work experience required for the PGM industry and for the graduate to provide technical, engineering and management support to the operations during work experience to ensure the operational objectives are met. Innovation is also required for technical and business improvement projects.

Minimum qualifications and requirements:

  • NQF Level 7 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • In depth understanding of engineering disciplines.
  • Currently unemployed with no prior graduate internship participation.
  • Medically fit for different operations (Concentrator Operations / Smelting Operations / PMR / BMR).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Successful completion of a set twenty-four (24) months internship training program that will enhance general knowledge of the PGM industry and overall exposure to technical, safety and managerial aspects of engineering within a production environment.
  • Attending all required training & development course interventions as identified.
  • Submit reports as per training requirements.
  • Provide technical support to operational areas to enable the company to meet its business plan and operational targets.
