About Afrimat
Afrimat is a leading JSE-listed South African mid-tier mining and materials company supplying industrial minerals, bulk commodities (iron ore, anthracite), and construction materials. Operating over 30 quarries and numerous ready-mix/pre-cast plants, it specializes in aggregates, concrete products, and recently acquired Lafarge South Africa to enhance its cement portfolio.
Key Aspects of Afrimat South Africa:
Operational Divisions: The company operates through three main pillars: Construction Materials (quarries, ready-mix), Industrial Minerals (specialized minerals), and Bulk Commodities (iron ore and anthracite).
Expansion & Acquisitions: Afrimat completed the acquisition of Lafarge South Africa to bolster its footprint in the cement industry.
Market Position: As of early 2026, the company is experiencing a strong turnaround, with recent interim results showing a 29.9% increase in revenue to R5.3bn. Services: Beyond material supply, they provide contracting services, including drilling, blasting, and mobile crushing. Afrimat’s strategy focuses on vertical integration, using its own raw materials to manufacture products like bricks and pavers, which are supplied to construction and infrastructure projects across the country.
