Supply Trainee Opportunity at The South African Breweries (SAB)

The purpose of this role is to provide a structured development opportunity for a graduate within the ZHQ Supply function. The trainee will support a designated Head of Department (HOD) within the Zone Brewery Support (ZBS) environment, gaining exposure to supply chain performance management, analytics, and business operations. Through a combination of hands-on experience, project participation, and analytical responsibilities, the trainee will develop strong operational insight. The programme is designed to build capability in interpreting performance data, identifying trends, and supporting decision-making at a departmental and site level.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the assigned HOD with analysis and interpretation of departmental and site performance data
  • Develop and maintain regular performance reports and dashboards (e.g. KPIs, SLAs, cost, efficiency, productivity)
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support performance improvement and operational decision-making
  • Assist in identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities across supply and logistics operations.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives aligned to ZHQ Supply and business priorities.
  • Support preparation of business reviews, presentations, and executive summaries.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data used for reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across sites and departments to gather and validate information.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Supply Excellence / VPO principles within analysis and reporting.
  • Take ownership of assigned deliverables and demonstrate a strong ownership mindset.

Developmental Focus Areas:

  • Business and financial acumen within Supply Chain
  • Data analysis and visualization skills (e.g. Excel, Power BI or similar tools)
  • Stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Understanding of end-to-end supply chain operations
  • Exposure to strategic and operational decision-making processes

Minimum Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Business Analytics / Data Science, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and numerical capability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel preferred)Ability to interpret data and translate into actionable insights
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive and results-driven
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Legal work authorization in the country
  • Willingness to collaborate across multiple teams and functions

Additional Information:

  • Band: VIII

The trainee will be assigned to a Head of Department within ZBS for the duration of the programme. The programme is designed to prepare the trainee for future roles within Supply, Logistics, or Commercial functions.
