About the Role
The Renewable Energy Graduate will support engineering activities within the Engineering Centre of Excellence (ECoE), contributing to project development, energy yield assessments, energy modelling, and early‑stage design across wind, solar and BESS projects.
Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and supported by a global network of experts, this role offers hands‑on exposure to large‑scale renewable energy projects across Southern Africa. It is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate looking to build technical capability while gaining insight into the full renewable energy project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development Support
- Support development teams with environmental approvals, project appeals, site selection and project sizing.
- Participate in site visits and field activities.
- Consolidate GIS and project-related data.
- Support transversal and cross‑functional project tasks as required.
Energy Yield Assessment
- Support technical assessment and interpretation of wind and solar resource data.
- Assist with prospecting activities for potential renewable energy sites.
- Support wind and solar data monitoring campaigns.
Design & Feasibility
- Assist with preliminary layout designs of renewable energy facilities.
- Contribute to feasibility assessments and technical risk analyses.
Data Analysis & Modelling
- Support data management, tracking, and analysis.
- Assist with BESS and energy modelling activities.
- Prepare presentations and summaries of modelling outputs.
Administration & Bid Support
- Provide administrative support related to bid preparation and contract documentation.
- Assist with ad‑hoc technical and analytical tasks as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, or related degree.
- 0–1 year professional experience (graduates encouraged).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Competencies
Technical
- Strong learning ability and interest in renewable energy engineering.
- Coding, CAD design, data analysis, and advanced Excel skills are advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
Behavioural
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
- Proactive, self‑motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
