Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade12
  • ProofofcompletionofaFF1course
  • Medically,physically and mentally fit
  • No criminal record (to be done by the Local Criminal Record Centre, proof thereof should be provided by shortlisted candidates).
  • Must reside in Stellenbosch Municipal Area and remain a resident in the Stellenbosch Municipal Area for the duration of employment (proof of address and Affidavit to be submitted).

Other Requirements

  • Good interpersonal, problem solving and good communication skills in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape Province (English, Afrikaans and Xhosa)
  • Good health
  • Have no mental phobias related to claustrophobia (confined spaces), acrophobia (heights), bathophobia (depths), aquaphobia (water), hemophobia (blood), Achluophobia (darkness), Autophobia (isolation) and necrophobia (corpses).

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Performs a variety of tasks associated with responding to and dealing with firefighting, emergency rescue services, renderingbasic medical care, fireprevention andtrainingactivities, operatingand maintaining firefighting equipment and apparatus, maintaining fire station facilities and related work as required under appropriate supervision in ordertoprotectthelivesandproperty ofthe citizensofthe municipality inaccordance with the FireBrigade Services Act(Act 99 of 1987)

Added Advantage: Valid Code B driver’slicense
Special condition/s: The physical attributes required for the performance of tasks associated with specific key performance areas in this post necessitate that the incumbent be physically fit and able bodied with no cardiac and respiratory anomalies.
