About Pick n Pay South Africa
Pick n Pay is one of South Africa’s well-known retail brands, with a history dating back to 1967, when Raymond Ackerman acquired the first four stores in Cape Town. The business forms part of the Pick n Pay Group, which operates in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. Its main focus is providing customers with groceries, fresh food, household essentials and other everyday products at competitive prices. Through its network of company-owned and franchised stores, Pick n Pay serves customers in communities across South Africa.
Pick n Pay offers a wide range of products, including fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, bakery items, packaged foods, beverages, cleaning products and other household essentials. The wider group also operates Pick n Pay Clothing and provides online grocery shopping and delivery options through platforms such as Pick n Pay asap! In addition, customers can access selected value-added services at participating stores. These offerings allow Pick n Pay to cater to different household needs while adapting to changing shopping habits and demand for convenient ways to shop.
As a major retailer, Pick n Pay contributes to South Africa’s economy through its retail operations, supply chains, distribution activities and relationships with suppliers and franchise partners. Its business supports employment in areas such as store operations, logistics, merchandising, administration and management. The company also highlights community initiatives focused on food support and education, including its Feed the Nation Foundation and Pick n Pay School Club. Through these activities, the group plays a role in the retail sector and in communities where its stores operate.
Pick n Pay offers a variety of career opportunities depending on its operational needs and current vacancies. Positions may be available in cashiering, customer service, merchandising, fresh food departments, stock control, distribution, supply chain management, finance, information technology and store management. The company may also advertise internships, learnerships and graduate opportunities from time to time. These roles can be relevant to young South Africans entering the job market, unemployed graduates seeking experience and employed individuals looking to advance their careers. Applicants should always check the qualifications, experience and other requirements specified in each vacancy.
People interested in working for Pick n Pay South Africa should visit the company’s official careers website to look for available positions and recruitment opportunities. Before applying, candidates should read the job advertisement carefully to confirm the location, closing date, minimum qualifications and documents required. Preparing an updated CV and providing accurate information about qualifications and work experience can help applicants submit a complete application. Job seekers should use official recruitment channels and avoid anyone who asks for payment in exchange for a job offer.
