ABOUT THE ROLE
Volkswagen is seeking motivated and enthusiastic newly qualified Toolmaker Interns to join the Production Division for an 18 months internship programme. Successful candidates will support the manufacturing, maintenance, and improvement of jigs and fixtures used within the Production environments. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment, offering exposure to tooling, engineering drawings, and precision measurement systems. This programme is designed to develop technical competencies and provide practical workplace experience, enabling interns to build a strong foundation for a career in the tooling and automotive manufacturing industry.
Internship programme Period : (01 October 2026 – 31 March 2028)
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Assist in the manufacturing of jigs and fixtures from design specifications
- Support maintenance, repair, and modification of body shop tooling and fixtures
- Assist with inspection and measurement of components using basic measuring equipment
- Read and interpret engineering and technical drawings
- Support body shop production with basic fault-finding and corrective actions
- Assist in compiling reports and documenting tooling activities
- Participate in continuous improvement and learning initiatives
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or N3 with Mathematics
- Qualified Toolmakers
Work Experience: No prior work experience required
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
- Basic understanding of tooling, machining, or manufacturing processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good communication skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- High attention to detail and quality standards
